5 EXTRACTION METHODS

5.3 THERMAL EXTRACTION/DESORPTION

Use: Preparing soil and water samples for instruments requiring a gaseous phase analysis. Use of thermal extraction/desorption procedures in conjunction with gas chromatographs and mass spectrometers is becoming increasingly more common.

Description:

Thermal extraction techniques utilize heat to prepare samples for subsequent stages of analysis. This can be as simple as using an electric or microwave oven to dry samples, to using highly sophisticated instruments for vaporizing samples.

Analytes:

2. Non-Halogenated SVOCs 4. Halogenated SVOCs 5. PAHs
