Description of Services: The Bioremediation in the Field Search System (BFSS) provides access to database of information on waste sites across the country where bioremediation is being tested or implemented or has been completed. BFSS users can search the database electronically, view data on specific types of bioremediation sites, and print reports of selected information. Registered users also receive EPA's quarterly Bioremediation in the Field bulletin.
Data: BFSS currently provides information on ex situ and in situ technologies at more than 450 bioremediation sites nationwide. The database includes full-scale remediation efforts and treatability studies that cover sites under EPA's CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, and UST authority. Data for sites include:
  • Location
  • media
  • contaminants
  • cost and performance
Access: Downloading BFSS

BFSSPAK.EXE is a self-extracting compressed file. After downloading BFSSPAK.EXE simply type "BFSSPAK", and the files BFSSREAD.ME and BFSSINST.EXE will be extracted. Please read BFSSREAD.ME before using the self-extracting compressed file BFSSINST.EXE to install BFSS!

Download BFSSPAK.EXE (956 KB) now. - If you install BFSS after downloading it from this site, user documentation is available on-line and may be printed from the DOS text file BFSSUSER.DOC. A published and bound copy of BFSS documentation is available from CERI. Please call 513-569-7562 to request a copy.
